WASHINGTON, D.C.— Senator Ashley Moody released a statement calling on the Senate to adopt a rule prohibiting the use of taxpayer funds to reimburse Senate travel when a lapse in funding occurs for critical federal agencies and workers:
“No other place in America runs as shamelessly as Washington. I am calling on the Senate to suspend the use of taxpayer dollars for reimbursement of Senate flights while critical workers go unpaid. This resolution will ensure that unfinished business, like funding government agencies, is properly addressed as Senators will be incentivized to stay in D.C. and get the people’s work done,” said Senator Ashley Moody.
BACKGROUND:
- Senator Moody recently spoke on the Senate floor regarding the Democrats failure to protect Americans while holding the Department of Homeland Security hostage.
- Senator Moody donated her paychecks to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay during the longest government shutdown.
- During the first Democrat shutdown, Senator Moody cosponsored the Eliminate Shutdowns Act and voted for the Shutdown Fairness Act.
