NAVAL STATION MAYPORT, Fla. — Today, Senator Ashley Moody met with sailors at Naval
Station Mayport where she received a briefing on guided-missile destroyers, USS
The Sullivans and USS Thomas Hudner, which completed a deployment where it
protected American assets and personnel while intercepting Iranian missiles
during recent hostilities. The USS Thomas Hudner returned to Naval Station
Mayport just this week – Wednesday July 23rd – after a five-month deployment
across the U.S. 4th and 6th Fleet area of operations, and sailors aboard the
USS The Sullivans were welcomed home Sunday, July 13th.
Senator Ashley Moody said, “I want to thank the brave men and women aboard the
USS The Sullivans and USS Thomas Hudner who all recently returned from their
historic deployment where they defended our freedoms and ensured the safety of
Americans at home and abroad. These sailors played a key role in defending
Israel and our personnel, all while remaining mission focused. As your newest
U.S. Senator, I want to reiterate my commitment to our military community here
in Florida—which is home to 21 installations and three combatant commands.
Welcome home!”
