ORLANDO,
Fla.—Today, Senator
Ashley Moody visited with Florida sheriffs to share recent legislative
victories and thank the law enforcement leaders for their service to the
Sunshine State as she kicked off the 2025 Florida Sheriff Association’s Summer
Conference. The Sheriff’s Summer Conference is their largest event of the year,
providing continuing education opportunities and important updates. As Attorney
General, Moody fought every day for Florida’s heroes and continues to bring
this support and advocacy to Washington. Most recently, Senator Moody
celebrated her cosponsored HALT Fentanyl Act becoming law, and shared updates
on her push to get her HELPER Act and RIPPLE Act across the finish line.
Senator
Ashley Moody said,
“Florida is the most pro-law-enforcement state in the nation, and as your
newest U.S. Senator, I want to reiterate my commitment to the men and women in
uniform who make our state and communities safer and stronger. Our law
enforcement stands on the thin line between order and chaos and good and evil
every single day so that we can remain the free SAFE state of Florida. I will
always fight to keep it that way. When we support those who protect us, America
wins.”

As a strong
supporter of law enforcement, Senator Ashley Moody highlighted her first bill
that she filed as a U.S. Senator to make homeownership more obtainable for
Florida heroes. The Homes for Every Local Protector,
Educator, and Responder (HELPER)
Act would establish a program to provide mortgage assistance to law
enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders so that they may
live in the communities they serve.
Senator Moody
updated the law enforcement leaders on legislation she has been working on,
including her cosponsored HALT
Fentanyl Act, which was recently signed into law by President Trump. This
bill will assist law enforcement in getting peddlers of this poison off the
street by permanently classifying fentanyl-related substances under Schedule I
of the Controlled Substances Act.
Senator Ashley
Moody also touted her legislation, the RIPPLE
Act, which would expand the 287(g) program and provide resources to state
law enforcement to more efficiently get dangerous illegal alien criminals out
of communities. Florida law enforcement leaders have set the blueprint
nationwide for immigration enforcement and Senator Moody is working to ensure
they have access to the resources they need to continue that leadership.
