WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Ashley Moody today voted to pass Senator Markwayne Mullin’s nomination for Department of Homeland Security Secretary out of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
“Democrats jeopardized our national security with four years of reckless border policies under Biden, and now they continue to do so by refusing to fund the very agency charged with keeping us safe. Senator Mullin is a fighter and a true patriot. I cannot think of a better pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security at this time to keep Americans safe,” said Senator Ashley Moody
Senator Mullin’s nomination to lead DHS now heads to the Senate Floor for a full vote.
Ahead of the vote, Senator Moody questioned Sen. Mullin about the crisis created by four years of Biden’s reckless border and Mullin’s commitment to address the challenges and security threats facing the nation today.

BACKGROUND:
- Senator Moody has been a staunch supporter of law enforcement and highlighted that support during Mullin’s committee hearing.
- Senator Moody has highlighted the dangers of Biden’s Border Crisis since her days as Florida’s Attorney General.
- Under Biden, cartels have trafficked migrants and minors for profit. Senator Moody addressed the need for this administration to continue the work to put an end to it.
- DHS faces unique challenges every day, Senator Moody acknowledged that and asked Sen. Mullin how he intends to meet these challenges.
