TAMPA, Fla.—Today, Senator Ashley Moody congratulated American Legion Lady Lake Post 347—the world’s largest post—for winning the National Color Guard Contest at the American Legion National Convention held in Tampa, Florida. Senator Moody also addressed veterans during a general session of the 106th American Legion National Convention where she outlined her legislative priorities and shared support for the veteran community.

 

Senator Ashley Moody said, “America is the land of the free because of the brave, and we must always remember the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Supporting our former and present service members is a major priority of mine, and I have been working hard on policies that will bolster the community. Additionally, I’m proud to congratulate the Lady Lake American Legion Post 347 for bringing home the victory in the National Color Guard Contest, their first time winning this nationwide contest and a historic milestone for their post.”

 

The 2025 American Legion National Color Guard Contest was held on August 22 during the 106th National Convention in Tampa, Florida, featuring several Legion Family color guard units. Competing for the first time, Lady Lake Post 347 from The Villages captured the title of Champion Color Guard in the adult Legion Family Category, achieving the highest combined scores in both the Advancing/Retiring Colors and Military classes. This victory earned them the honor of serving as the official color guard at the 2026 National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. American Legion Post 347 is the largest post in the world with 6,650 members.

 

Yesterday, Senator Moody hosted a Vietnam War Veteran Pinning Ceremony at Post 347 in Lady Lake, honoring the service of approximately 100 veterans and surviving spouses. To learn more, click here.

When Senator Moody served as Florida’s Attorney General, she formed the Florida Military and Veterans Assistance Program to assist service members and their families who have been affected by scams. From 2019 and January 2025, when Senator Moody left the Attorney General’s office, MVAP recovered more than $3.7 million from over 2,300 complaints for affected military members and their families.
